Day 2!

Orientation day was today, a long and boring(but informative) meeting. We talked about safety, about the apartment, and many other things. After we were done at around 7pm, we went shopping and ended up next to the Uffizi gallery and another building that I am not sure what it is exactly but it has a huge bell tower. We did not go inside, but there were quite a few sculptures around it which were amazing.. I mean the detail on those things is incredible!

We also came across the Porcellino (The Bronze Pig). The story is that you rub the snout of the pig and put a coin in its mouth and if the water from the pigs mouth pushes the coin out, you have good luck and will come back to Florence one day, if it does not work- you try again! And it looks like I am coming back:)

I also had a pretty delicious past 2 days.. I had pizza, fettuccine alfrado, nutella croissant, cappuccino, and best of all GELATO! Everything is so fresh, the only way to describe the food: delicious! (By the way, this is the Menchies of Italy- instead of yogurt.. Gelato)

Buonasera!!
  So- after an 8hr flight to Frankfurt, Germany, a 3hr layover, and another 1 1/2 hr plane ride I've finally made it to Florence! I haven't done much at all besides make it to my apartment but I thought I should make a quick post about my travels. Dana: the airline food was pretty good- I took a picture for you:)

 Sleeping on the plane was so difficult so I took advantage of the layover. (pic from my roommate)

We flew over the Alps which was the coolest thing to see from above!

Finally, my apartment. It for sure gives you the feel of Italian living..

My First Post!

Hello everyone!!

  This is the blog that I will be posting in during the time I'm studying abroad in Florence, Italy! I am not in Italy yet, I still have 5 more days in the US, but I just wanted to post something to make sure everything works on here for when I actually have some interesting things to post in a week or so. I will be there from January 6th- May 10th, and not just Florence- I plan on doing as much traveling to the surrounding areas as I can. So, even though this is called the "Florence Files" it is more like the "Florence And Wherever Else I Find Myself In These Next 5 Months Files" :)

  I am sure my blogs will be filled with grammatical errors (sorry Dana and Jenn) but they will also be full of the fun things I do, delicious things I eat, and beautiful places I see so you guys can see what I am up to.

So here is a picture of Florence I found on Pinterest since I do not have any of my own yet.. just making sure it works!

I can't wait to start my trip so I can start blogging!  Traveling the world is just a plus;)
